New Gadget i got

Ok… for the past few months… my car CD player was giving me a major headache… sometimes i would not work… sometimes there is a CD inside and it says that it is empty… and its just damn irritating… my sis told me that she wanted to get me a Ipod FM radio transmitter but in the end after surveying the prices for it, it was too costly to get one.. its like 300 and above to get one.. Anyways.. i had an Ipod Nano lying around collecting dust and its not being utilized because i dont travel via LRT or bus anymore… so… i thought to myself… since my CD player is crap even though its a Sony one… it sucks big time.. i convinced myself that i should get the FM radio transmitter because of the problems i’m facing with the cd player… sooooo… i ended up going to Mid Valley to get one… i was looking for one with a remote control.. but the only one i could find with a remote control did not have a charger connected and that sucks… i wanted something that could charge, transmit and have a remote at the same time.. looks like i ran out of luck.. could not find any… so in the end.. i found a rechargable radio transmitter without a remote… it cost me a bomb.. but it looks good though… i bought a Belkin one.. at first it was damn hard to figure out how to plug it in because of the big head but after some elbow greese… it finally managed to plug it in.. then after that…

After plugging it in… there is a button on the transmitter that helps find clear frequencies that i could transmit my ipod songs on… guess what.. i had such a hard time with it.. i did not know that there were so many radio channels!! i think it took me the whole trip from mid valley to OUG to find a clear channel.. and that also i had to make adjustments to the car antenna… I even tried looking for frequencies manually but could not find any clear ones.. there were some that sounded clear.. but when playing the songs from the ipod.. i could hear the interruption that were caused from the other frequencies which are close to the frequency the transmitter is transmitting.. Then.. i tried doing one thing… i pushed back the car antenna so that it will not recieve frequencies from the radio stations well.. and when i did that.. it worked like a charm…. sigh…. so long figuring how to get the best frequency when the solution is so simple.. watashi wa baka desu!! T.T Anyways.. not its working fine.. and i took a few pics of it.. hehehe..

Ok…. i’ve taken better pics of the laptop so hopefully it comes out nicely… my phone is getting bad.. need to replace it soon.. I WAN MY HTC!!!! TYTN II!!!! XD i can only dream now.. T.T okok.. back to the XPS..

For starters.. i shall start with the top part of the laptop…. i got the bone white version which has white led lights at the back… its not that clear due to the camera so please bare with me… hehe~~

Opening it… i tried taking the screen with the keyboard.. but the screen did not come out clearly.. some how the camera darkens when i point it at the screen… sigh~~~

Ok… this is getting lame… but here is Dell’s kind warning words..

 

I like this part about the laptop.. this LCD screen is extremely useful.. it has a stop watch as well as a timer. It also displays what song or movie you are listening or watching, the processor and ram usage, date and time as well as game information when you play.. it will show you how much bullets and life you have.. cool eh.. XD

Ok.. lastly.. i tried to take a good shot of the monitor…. so hope the effort was not futile and you are able to see it.. XD

Thats it for the pictures of the computer… but i noticed one thing while taking the pictures for this computer.. i got a mouse to go together with this computer and i did not know they compliment each other so perfectly…. the way they look.. and both of them seem to be made out of carbon fiber because both of them have the same design…. so if anyone out there owns an XPS M1730… i’ll recommend the Logitech G7 mouse to go with it because it looked like a match made in heaven.. XD

Review – XPS M1730

Recently, thanks to my sis, she bought me a great laptop… XPS M1730.. Dual Nvidia 8700 GT 256RM each, C2D 2.2, 2gb ram, 17″ HD lcd screen… great computer and was totally impressed with it at first glance.. when i unboxed it…. i took some pics of the laptop.. below are the pics…

The first view of it outside.. it looked cool.. looks like having a carbon fiber casing but its actually plastic i think..haha!

This was when it was running the dell setup asking to enter the computer name, user name and stuff.. the proess took quite some time fo complete..

The keyboard had backlights which is good for me because i like using the computer with the lights off.. even though i done look a the keyboard much but it still helps because sometimes i can forget the position of the keys… especially when i’m too sleepy.. ^^

The laptop was loading up vista and you can see the wallpaper that dell provided together.. looks cool.. ^^

The only major thing i dont like about this laptop is the huge power adapter.. damn.. my feet is around size 8 – 9 and its almost as long as my feet.. crazy~~! can kill people with it.. >_>

 Testing the laptop, the first game i tried with max settings is Company of Heroes. It lagged~~~!!! DAMN! according to someone.. it seems that the first version had some problems with SLI and the second version of COH which is Opposing Fronts is much better.. Anyways.. waiting to get it from anyone who has it.. my comp only could support it when the resolution was set to 1600×1200 with medium graphics… when i set to 1929×1200 with max settings.. it started to lag.. >_< think cannot support that high resolution.. But 1600×1200 suits fine for me.. still good.. better than my current comp.. i tested 3Dbenchmark03 and it scored 268xx points… my old comp only manage to score around 7xxx plus.. so much difference.. maybe i might try upgrading the processor to a 2.8 next time when the price drops.. ^^ Anyways.. tried rainbow six with max settings and it lagged also.. sigh… but later i noticed that there was a program running in the background which was windows media player 11.. that could have caused the lag.. also due to the fact i’m running on vista.. another bummer.. sigh.. wanna change back to xp soon.. hope that i’m able to get the drivers from dell..

This laptop also has one of the best sound system i’ve heard from a laptop.. the clarity is great… it is also loud! i went to the kitchen and i left the music on and closed the door.. i could hear it clearly from the kitchen… when my friend was doing a video recording of the laptop with his hp… it recorded the music that was playing perfectly.. the clarity is superb~! Late updates – Bye Bye Gong Gong

Wow.. its been like 1 months plus.. coming to 2 months since i last blogged.. Been so busy the past 2 months till i had no time to blog.. now feeling a lil bit free.. i shall post a few post after a long time.. Anyways… the past month… my bro came back from australia with his wife, my sis came back from australia with her boyfriend, went to Singapore which is my first time being out of the country, Christmas Celebration, Grand dad passed away and i got a new laptop thanks to my Sis.. Thanks Carol!! ^^ as for my FYP…. its still stuck… cant do much.. but prolly after i’ve finished blogging.. i’ll prolly try to start on it.. 30 plus days left to finish it… sigh~~~

Starting on with my late grand dad… he passed away on a Saturday.. at first my parents told me i dont have to come back for the funeral.. but i still wanted to go back.. it would not be right for me not to go back and i don’t wanna regret it in the future not being able to come back to see him off the last time.. So.. after church on sunday… i drove back and i was totally exhausted because i was not able to sleep the night before.. contemplating whole night to go or not to go back.. reached back in the later afternoon around 4 and then i thought of seeing him straight.. but i ended up sleeping… its extremely hot in Sitiawan due to the fact that they cut down lots of trees and also because its near the sea… i could sweat indoors with the air conditioning on… anyways… ended up going for the night service which was all in hock chew.. din understand anything till my mom helped translate some parts of the sermon… when i went to look at him in the coffin.. he looked soo peaceful.. he was suffering the last 3 months due to a stroke… he was semi-consious but aware at times.. when i saw him bed ridden last time.. came in and shooke his hand and rubbed his head.. he managed to open his eyes.. and there are times when i could see tears in his eyes which i assume it is tears of joy.. anyways… i’m glad that he is not suffering anymore and hes up there with God..

Its been some time

Its been some time since i last blogged.. been busy with lots of stuff and been through certain events which caused me to neglect my blog… First problem why i have not been updating this blog is because of laziness.. i’ve been so lazy to do many things till i’m way behind schedule for my fyp… secondly.. i am not sure what to write or share… sometimes hard to find materials to write about.. If i were to write what happened to me everyday… it will be kindda generic… Starting of the day.. Wake up, eat, see anime, see movie, play games, eat, play games, see the morning sun, and then sleep. Not a very progessive life style i have.. haha! anyways.. finally took the time to sit down and update this blog of mine..

 Recently i updated the firmware on my handphone, it was working fine for the first few weeks.. then suddenly.. during bible study… my phone displayed “Inactive Sim Card”… my reactions to is was “…..”… then i thought turning it off and on again.. tried that.. and the next moment i discovered.. my handphone does not want to boot up at all! does not turn on and the only thing i see that give me a sign that the phone is not totally dead is the blinking red light i see at the infrared port.. this sucks.. After this depressing discovery… i remembered one thing.. ALL MY CONTACT NUMBERS ARE STORED IN THE PHONE MEMORY!!! so… if i dont have your number.. i’m trully sorry.. i only have a partial backup of my contact numbers in my other phone… my old and trusty nokia 3120… other than that..updated list of contacts are all gone.. SIGH! I was asking around if any of my friends had someone trustable doing handphone repairs that could also give me a good price on the repair.. i asked Amy who had a cousin working in Mid Valley… i went to Mid Valley with 33 to find that shop that Amy’s cousin was working… 33 knew the location of the shop but not sure which booth.. so.. i assumed that it was the first shop and sent my phone there.. They told me it would be ready in “3 – 4 Working Days”.. i sent it on a friday… and after “3-4 Working days” i called them up… they told me… “Oh Sir… Your Handphone not ready yet la.. should take around 2 more working days.. we will contact you then”.. then after that extended 2 more working days… no call came from them.. then i called them again.. and they told me.. “Oh Sir.. Your Handphone still not ready yet.. another 2 more working days…” This time i was extremely annoyed.. i then told them… “Why is it taking so long?? i’ve sent the phone there for almost a week, and you told me 3 – 4 working days.. until now still not yet finish.. whats wrong witht the phone??”.. then they quickly replied that it was a firmware problem… then i said.. “I need the phone you know… Can it be ready by Friday? i need it then..” they replied saying that they were not sure because it was not them doing the repair.. if they were not doing the repair.. why except my phone then?! it seems they have to send to somewhere else to repair.. anyways.. i told them to finish it as soon as possible hinting them that i want it on friday… guess what.. Friday no call… so……. i decided to cut them some slack and see… saturday.. i called them up.. Guess what.. it took them so damn long to answer my call… First time i called.. they picked up.. asked for my handphone details and receipt number… then after that.. they asked me.. “Sir, can you call back in 5 minutes?” then i gave them 5 minutes… when the 5 minutes was up.. i called again.. and this time.. No one picked up the phone… i then called again… no one pick up.. i called non stop for 10 minutes.. no one pick up… then i paused for a few minutes.. then started to call again.. then same thing.. no one pick up.. called for another 5 minutes *Pissed at that time*… then after around 20 mins… i called again.. and it got through.. they said it was ready…. i was prepared to fire at them if they told me it was not ready.. but since its ready.. i calmly asked if i could go and pick the phone up now.. then they told me yes…. then i started to get ready… 10 minutes later they called me.. it seems that it was very jammed up and i had to give them 2 hours before i could go pick up the phone.. the first thing that came to my mind was that “I think they are only fixing the phone now”… ok la.. din bother about it.. in the end.. i ended up not going to pick it up because i wanted to go get a new mouse from the PC fair.. my current logitech mouse can hardly click… i used the clicker too much till it does not respond sometimes.. still can click but need to use a lot of force.. This makes it the third logitech mouse giving me this problem.. First with my wireless mouse and with my other cheap logitech mouse.. went to pc fair.. and i did not like the mouses i saw.. ended up coming out with only brochures.

In the PC fair, i did saw something that i wanted to get.. after handling it with my hands.. i fell it love with it.. its the HTC TYTN II which caused 3K.. the moment i laid my hands on it.. the moment i told myself.. “I MUST HAVE THIS!” good luck to me in finding the 3K i need to get that phone.. i’m only 50% there.. *i think* I also wanted to have a feel of the dell XPS M1730 laptop which i am going to get at the end of this year.. I went there and all i saw was.. the 13 and 15 inch XPS models.. the 1730 was no where to be found.. what a let down! the best laptop they have and yet they dont display it.. i’m disappointed!!

Another thing that happened to me is that my FYP supervisor was leaving APIIT soon.. leaving halfway in doing my fyp would be kindda bad on me so they found me another supervisor that would replace my current one.. and i got my first lecturer in apiit which i had when i was in foundation 2003 which was Miss Bridget! the handover was a funny one because i actually have Miss Bridget in my facebook account… but knowing that she is my new supervisor.. i gotta buck up even more on my fyp.. the progress on my fyp is not that good but i have confidence i would be able to finish it.. Anyways.. thats that…

Another thing that happened recently was my bro came back to malaysia for a holiday with his fiance and were planning to get registered in Australia this month.. i think they registration is done.. it was supposed to happen on the 7th of December. Anyways.. i met his fiance and i thought that she was nice. I could see that my bro was happy so i’m happy for him.. Brought them around kl and spent some time with them.. we went back to sitiawan together on a sunday.. i was having my holidays so i could go back and visit home.. Reached home.. my house computer was not working properly and i could not do my FYP.. instead.. i ended up playing the XBox the whole day to kill time. There was an incident when i drove my bro and his fiance to the hair dresser.. and the hair dresser asked me if my older brother was my younger brother… >_> i was wondering.. “Do i look that old??” anyways.. it was a funny experience.. but sadly i could not go to australia for their registration ceremony because of my classes and project thus missing out on a long holidays outside of malaysia.. I’m a frog under a coconut shell because i’ve not been out of malaysia before.. even to singapore or thailand.. malaysia’s closest neighbours… But the good thing is that i’m going to Singapore on the 15th to the 18th of this month with my sis, mom and younger bro for a holiday.. YAY! Anyways. thats about it that happened to me.. got some more but i think this post is getting to long.. -Endz-

These past few weeks have been a lousy one. I’ve gotten food poisoning, head aches, fever, sore throat, cough and diarrhea. It must be due to my lifestyle. I sleep late and eat food which could cause food poisoning, sore throat and diarrhea(referring to Mamak and Pasar Malam Food). My pimples are spreading everywhere on my face. My face looks very red now. Sigh~ need to take care of myself. I’ve made it a habit to start drinking water more and try to get back the normal sleeping time. I usually sleep around 4 – 6 am and wake up around 3 pm which is super unhealthy. The only good thing that comes from this is that I’m finally loosing weight. Wheee!!! below 80Kgs!! I just hope the weight loss is consistent. I used to be around 60 over kgs but ever since coming to kl, i’ve gained around 15 – 20 Kgs. The heaviest i measured was 85Kg. Grrrr~~~!! I love food too much.. hahaha!

Anyways.. This week has not been a productive week. I was supposed to start on my final year project but i end up not being able to start. Some how my mind is not on work and I’m not sure which area to start first. When i wanted to start coding, i found out that i did not have Visual C++ installed in my computer which was a big road block because i don’t have a copy of my own. I remember lending it out but not sure if i got it back sooooo….. need to ask around for anyone who has visual studio 6 or download it. Sigh…. I either end up playing Facebook, msn, reading R.A. Salvator’s novels on “The Legend of Drizzt”(my favorite Forgotten Realms Character), sleeping, and checking out Handphone prices and reviews. I was planning to get a K850i but after all the reviews I’ve read about it, I’m a lil bit skeptical about buying that phone. The features are nice but the ergonomics is kindda bad. I’ve read cases where people buy the phone, 1 to 2 weeks later, they resell the phone because they could not stand using it. Its too expensive for the features given and also the keypad is a problem. The next possible prospect which i am considering is the P1i which is kindda cool. Handphone PDA with a QWERTY keypad, 3.2MP camera, stable Symbian OS and lots more. So.. what see next year when the time comes for me to replace my super old phone.. I think its obsolete already.. Anyone wanna buy a Nokia 3210?

The starting of my holiday this week… I’ve played C&C3 on my housemate’s computer because his computer is much faster than mine and plus his computer could actually play it. I tried to play it on mine, it keeps crashing. I got pissed and uninstalled it and never played it after that.. Anyways, I played GDI for around 1 day plus and managed to complete it. The game was cool. Great graphics and excellent gameplay. The only part which i could not stand is when I tried multiplayer mode. The moment when all players starts to gather massive forces, the whole game lags. Too much processing power needed for this game.. Sigh~~~ I could have completed the campaign faster but i was too busy harrasing the computer.. I would build defences around the enemy’s base and slowly capture the buildings one by one. Build all their structures and units then end it.. So… alot of time went into building defenses and units. HEHE!! Now its back to work mode. Assignments done, exams around the corner and a big headache called FYP to take care off. Think i’m gonna end here… -Endz-

Update~~!!

Its been a few days since i last posted here… been super busy with midpoint presentation as well as other assignments. Anwyays.. Midpoint done and 2 more assignments to go.. hopefully can finish it soon. Midpoint presentation was not bad.. even though i did not prepare much, i dont think the marks i got was bad… should be average.. ^^ too depressed about the project to start on it.. but slowly getting my momentum back and gotta wait to see my supervisor to ask her about some changes i did to the project’s scope… objectives are still almost the same.. anyways.. shall see how it goes… Algo and PM assignment left.. think can finish within 1 week.. hopefully.. should not be that hard.. started on algo but not much done.. but if i sit down properly and do it.. should be able to finish within a day.. ^^

Health wise.. i’m getting sick… since friday.. i had a slight food poisoning.. at first i thought it was gastric but the doc told me it was not because all the symptoms that i discribed to him was related to food poisiong… Friday was bad… went to the toilet until i was passing out some blood.. then saturday i thought i was ok.. but when it came to night time.. started again.. omg!! luckily my stomach ache did not attack me while i was wat my friends wedding lunch.. thank God!! anyways.. the doc said it was a case of minor food poisoning… if it was a severe one.. i would have had problem breathing and i would not have any energy to do anything.. so thank God it was a minor one.. just hope it will stop soon.. cant take it anymore.. i went on so many dates with the toilet bowl until i lost track of the times i went.. >_> Sigh.. stomach still giving problems.. wish there was an instant cure for everything.. T.T Anyways.. about the wedding dinner.. it was good.. loved the roasted chicken.. seriously damn good.. skin damn crispy.. *and fattening* i have not attended a wedding feast for quite some time.. think since Ant and JoC’s wedding which was in Jan if i am not mistaken.. ^^ At the lunch, i think i ate like a glutton.. felt so fat after that.. Thanks Irene for the invitation.. hehe!

Other than that… i’ve been monitoring the price of the phone that i’m targeting whith is the Sony Erricson K850…. in just a few days.. the price has dropped alot! RM300… its a good thing for me.. but sadly.. thats the price of an AP set.. which i dont wanna get.. wanna buy an originnal if its possible.. so need to see when they will start selling the originnal one soon.. ^^ anyways.. think i’m gonna end here.. Darn.. i’m one of the first to be doing the mid point persentation.. this is just great.. not enough time to prepare!! FYP FULL THROTLE MODE!!! haih.. 3 days left… minus sunday equals 2 full days of fyp madness.. DAMNIT!! should have started much more earlier.. damnit.. i’m regretting it now.. T.T but think positive.. do what i can.. then concentrate on my other assignments.. and celebrate my holidays in kl doing my darn project.. i hate FYP!!! sigh.. i’m too stressed out now.. T.T brain not functioning.. and i’m thinking of K850!!! Guess what.. K850 is out now!! its selling for RM2K plus!!! WOOT!! 5MP CAMERA!!! i’m drooling at it now.. sigh.. i want it so badly…….. okok.. gotta wait till the price drops a few hundered then i’ll prolly get it.. Regretted getting my K800 when it first came out… i got it for RM1.7K + 512 M2 memory card & W series headphones equals to RM2.1K… and its only an AP SET!!! now it cost around RM1.3K including 1Gb M2 memory card.. sigh~~~ Gotta save up money!! A shop in Low Yat to stay clear off

Its 5:10 am not and i still cant sleep.. today is the day i’m going to get back the notebook from that stupid shop i sent it to get repaired… This is one of the shops which has no ethics in their work. Takes out the hard disk and claims that there is no hard disk and when i sent back the notebook for warranty regarding the standby mode not working, they remember the hard disk incident and started calling me chuttiah a.k.a asshole the whole time i was there… Then on monday or tuesday i called them up regarding the notebook, they said that its the processor problem. Before this the notebook was running on celeron 2.8 and they changed it to P4 2.8… now they are saying that because the mother board cannot support the P4 2.8, they need to change back to a celeron 2.8… which should be cheaper.. I asked if there was any refund of the processor and they said no, it was the same price.. so they expect me to believe that a celeron 2.8 cost the same as a p4 2.8… wow.. its so believable.. P4 2.8 is so much more faster than a celeron 2.8 and its the same price.. if they wanted to cheat.. this is the most stupidest way to cheat… hes thinking as though i’m some computer illiterate noob which he can swindle money off.. The best part about that call is that he actually raised his voice at me.. it sounded more like he was annoyed with my call and that seriously pisses me off.. I’m gonna go tomorrow and confront him about calling me the chuttiah.. see if is man enough to admit and apologize.. anyways.. Anyways, if you need a laptop to repair, go somewhere else who you can trust. Never send to some unknown shop like what i did and they give you crappy service and tries to swindle you of every penny you have. So.. this is one shop which i can 100% advice you to stay clear off… *Endz*
